Print and cut out the template pieces. Trace the template outlines onto cardstock – six balloon and two basket shapes. Fold five of the balloon shapes into mirrored halves, and then glue the pieces together.
Punch a hole in the bottom and the top of an A4 piece of cardstock. Draw a basic city skyline near the bottom of the A4 cardstock, and add stars above.
Cut three small pieces of string of equal length. Using double-sided tape stick the string to a basket piece in parallel lines. Cover the string in tape to hold it firm. Attach the other end of string to the bottom of an unfolded balloon piece. Cover the string in tape to hold it closed. Run a long length of string through the punched holes on the A4 cardstock. Stick and tape one end of the string to the top of the unfolded balloon piece. Stick and tape the other end of the string to the bottom of the basket. Make sure the string is not sitting loosely. Stick the decorative side of the balloon and basket sections to their matching base pieces.
Holding the string at the back of the A4 cardstock and moving it up and down, watch the hot air balloon rise and plummet.
